As an interpreter, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the patient’s receive accurate information. In addition to knowledge of medical terminology, you’ll also have to follow HIPAA guidelines so the patient’s information remains confidential. You’ll be making decisions on how to accurately interpret information while following HIPAA guidelines real time; so, you can expect to be working in a fast paced environment. You will benefit from being open to learning about other cultures in order to understand their nuances; having prior experience working with people from cultures other than your own will also be helpful!
